Prospects for hydro-solar hybrid plants in Cameroon: A planning case study

Cameroon has vast potential for the development of all sources of renewable energy. The authors propose greater emphasis on the development of hybrid systems, with pumped storage, to maximize the use of these resources and to address the challenges of intermittent renewables (wind and solar). Studies and projects under development described here point out the clear advantages of hybrid schemes. It is pointed out that current power sector regulations do not focus sufficiently on hybrid systems, and more could be done to incentivise such developments.
