Reconstruction of the Vorotna small hydro plant in Armenia

The Armenian Government has recently created a favourable framework for small hydropower development, with a view to promoting indigenous and diversified energy sources. In this context, a private investor has decided to reconstruct the 1380 kW Vorotna small hydro plant, using Fusegates to control the spillway. The project is a good example of how the private sector and government can partner to help Armenia face its future energy challenges, by providing small cost-effective privately financed hydropower projects.
