Revised design improves the feasibility of Xalalá, Guatemala

Following a number of studies during the 1980s, the Xalalá scheme, planned for the Chixoy river in Guatemala, has had its design revised, and now represents a good prospect for the country’s next hydroelectric development. This article briefly describes the revised scheme, outlining technical, economic and environmental advantages of the new design, which would incorporate an RCC dam.
