This paper outlines a prioritization scheme, together with an Excel spreadsheet indexing too, that was developed to provide preliminarily identification of high priority dams that should move into a second tier for dam safety risk assessment. The tool will inform preparation and implementation of DRIP-2 and DRIP-3 priority dams in India, with risk estimation allowing for a more transparent and justified decision-making process for potential dam safety investments.
