Samba Caju embankment dam will improve agricultural yield in Cuanza Norte, Angola

The Samba Caju earth embankment dam was recently completed in northern Angola and has created a 2.65 x 10^6 m^3 reservoir, to be used for the irrigation of 1300 ha of corn fields at the Samba Caju farm via a system composed of a pumping station, 33 km of underground PVC piping and 23 centre pivot irrigation machines. This article briefly describes the planning and construction of the earth dam, and the positive impacts it will have in the region.
