San Vicente: the world’s largest dam heightening using RCC

Raising the height of the San Vicente dam, near Sacramento in California, USA, will enable the reservoir to play an important role in ensuring adequate water supplies for the region in the event of drought, or disruption to normal supplies. An additional 188 ¥ 106m3 of emergency storage will be available at the dam.Water can also be stored in periods of extended rainfall for use during dry periods. RCC has been chosen for the 35.7 m heightening scheme, for technical and economic reasons.
