Tauernmoos pumped-storage project to be constructed in Austria

ÖBB-Infrastruktur AG, the operator of the infrastructure of the state-owned Austrian rail network on behalf of the Austrian Federal Railways (Österreichische Bundesbahnen or ÖBB), is set to start preliminary construction work on a new 170 MW pumped-storage hydropower plant in the Stubach Valley in the western state of Salzburg. Construction of access roads and tunnels is to begin in April with the main civil works scheduled to start in September, for commissioning by October 2025.
