The Ingula and Tubatse pumped-storage schemes planned for South Africa

As a result of anticipated rapid growth in peak power demand in South Africa, a number of new pumped-storage schemes are now planned. This paper focuses on the main features of the 1332 MW Ingula scheme, scheduled for commissioning in 2013; Brief details are also given of the Tubatse project, which could follow.
