The Picote II upgrade in Portugal: example of a turnkey scheme

In the past few years the power generation market has been driven by more investment in large-scale hydro projects. This trend led to an increased demand for turnkey electromechanical projects, which require traditional turbine and generator manufacturers to develop the ability to compete as complete power plants providers. The example of the Picote II upgrade scheme in Portugal is described here as an example of such a turnkey scheme, and the specific challenges involved in this kind of contract.
