Tokuyama, Japan’s largest rockfill dam, sets trends for environmental protection

In the years following the completion of Tokuyama dam, the results of the many innovative environmental measures implemented at the construction stage have been monitored, and have demonstrated that the dam (despite its size, as Japan’s largest dam of its type) has been built with minimal impact on the environment. Valuable lessons have been learned, which will now influence construction practice at future schemes.
