Tunnelling for the 160 MW Grand Poubara hydro project in Gabon

The Grand Poubara hydro plant, on the Ogooue river in Gabon, is currently under construction. When completed, the project will contribute to solving the problem of inadequate national power supply. This paper introduces the project and describes the design and the tunnelling challenges likely to be encountered.
