Warnings and the human response during the crisis at Oroville dam

In February 2017, concerns were raised over the condition of the primary spillway at the Oroville dam in northern California, USA. Unexpected heavy rainfall compounded the erosion detected at the spillway and evacuation warnings and orders were issued. The purpose of this paper is to present preliminary results of research, conducted for the US Army Corp of Engineers, on the Oroville event.
