Bids invited to build Irueña hydropower plant in Spain

Spain's Dirección General del Instituto para la Diversificación y Ahorro de la Energía (IDAE) (General Directorate of the Institute for the Diversification and Saving of Energy), part of the Ministry for Ecological Transition and Demographic Challenge, invites bids by 5 July for the procurement of civil works, supply of equipment and commissioning of the Irueña hydroelectric power plant in the central region of Castile-La Mancha.

The project, with a total installed capacity of approximately 4.5 MW and an estimated annual production of 16.3 GWh, is to be built at the toe of the existing Irueña Dam, near the town of Robledo in the province of Albacete, and is scheduled to enter operation in 2025. The Irueña Dam, which impounds the Águeda, a tributary of the Douro River, in the autonomous community of Castile and León, regulates the river flow. The contracted work, with an estimated value, excluding VAT, of €5.79 million, is to be completed within 18 months, according to the tender notice published on TED, the EU’s procurement platform, on 22 June.
