Bids sought for modernization of Forbach, Germany

Germany's Energie Baden-Württemberg AG (EnBW) invites bids by 21 September for the modernization of two Kaplan turbines with a power output of 1270 kW at the Forbach lowpressure hydropower plant in the Murg river valley, in the southwestern state of Baden-Württemberg.

The contracted works will comprise an inventory, planning, dismantling of existing equipment, diagnosis, refurbishment, optimization of system parts, reassembly, and commissioning of the units, according to a tender notice published on the EU’s procurement website, TED.

The overhaul of all turbine components (impeller, stator, bearing, shaft and gearbox) is planned and work is expected to begin on 1 January 2021 and be completed by the end of 2022.
