Rebuilding a chute spillway for effective energy dissipation

Hydrological studies have shown that many existing dams in Sweden have lower spillway discharge capacities than stipulated by the design-flood guidelines. This leads to the need for rehabilitation to enlarge their capacity and energy dissipation. At the dam, rebuilding options were evaluated and optimized based on physical hydraulic model studies, described here.
